About the art and artist:

Paula Ogden’s journey is one marked by multiple cancer diagnoses, each leaving its own imprint through years of radiation and chemotherapy. Her scars, layered over time, tell a story not just of what she has endured—but of what she has survived. When she approached her artwork, Paula made a powerful and intentional choice: she painted her scars in metallic colors, seeing them not as something to hide, but as symbols of life itself—strong, enduring, and worthy of being seen.

At first, Paula wasn’t sure what to expect from the experience. In fact, she admits she didn’t think she would enjoy it. But as she allowed herself to step into the process, something shifted. What began with uncertainty turned into genuine connection and pride. As her painting came together, she felt a deep sense of accomplishment—something she hadn’t anticipated but fully embraced. She also found unexpected joy in listening to the stories of others, realizing the power of shared experience.

By the end of her journey, Paula walked away with more than just a finished piece of art. She carried with her a renewed sense of hope and a deeper appreciation for life—proof that even the most uncertain beginnings can lead to something meaningful and beautiful.
