This beautiful umbrella features original works of art created by participants in You Night’s ScART (Scar + Art) healing program—a powerful experience where survivors turn their scars into sacred, visual stories of resilience.

Each design reflects the strength, beauty, and journey of someone who has faced life-changing challenges, using art as a path to healing.

A portion of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation in honor of this artist.

About the art and artist:

Stephanie’s story is one of rising—of finding light in places that once felt impossibly dark. Her body carries the scars of a total colectomy from colon cancer and two C-sections, each marking moments of survival and strength. But beyond the physical, her journey also holds deeper, less visible scars—those shaped by mental health struggles and childhood trauma.

In her artwork, Stephanie brought all of this together through a powerful image: a tree emerging from darkness. Its roots begin in shadow, representing the pain and challenges she has faced, while its growth upward reflects who she has become—a wife, a mother, and a survivor. The tree stands as a symbol of resilience, showing that even from the darkest beginnings, life can grow, stretch toward the light, and flourish.

Through the ScART experience, Stephanie discovered something within herself she hadn’t fully seen before. It opened her eyes—not only to her own need for healing, but to the depth of others’ experiences as well. As she listened and shared, her empathy deepened, and she began to recognize that her journey is still unfolding—that there is more work to be done, more healing to embrace.

What Stephanie found was not just expression, but insight. A quiet understanding that growth is ongoing, and that even now, she is still becoming.
