"My scar is from surgery to my right breast. When I looked at it, I saw the shape of someone with arms outstretched—like a dancer, free and full of life. That image became the heart of my painting, which I titled Angel’s Reach. I chose black and blue to reflect the fear, depression, and sadness I felt during my journey. These emotions were heavy and hard to move through. But then came purple—the color that represents the calm I’ve found within myself. To me, purple is love and warmth, a reminder of my inner strength and self-acceptance. The yellow in my painting represents the healing light the dancer is reaching for—symbolizing happiness, life, and love. It’s about having faith to step out of the darkness and into the light of a life you still long for and deeply deserve. The entire ScART experience was amazing. Listening to others share their journeys and their artwork was incredibly moving. It’s healing to step outside your own thoughts and translate pain into something visual, something expressive. Art has always been a part of me, but using it to reflect on my own sadness and resilience gave me unexpected clarity. It was more than painting—it was a moment of transformation."
