"I chose pink as the central color of my painting because it holds complex meaning for me—representing both pain and healing. Growing up, pink symbolized rejection. My father, whom I did not have a relationship with, was in a band in Australia during the late '60s and early '70s. They wore pink, and for me, that color became linked to feelings of abandonment and hurt.

But when I began my cancer journey, pink took on an entirely new meaning. It became a symbol of sisterhood, solidarity, and strength. In the cancer community, pink is powerful—it marks the beginning of emotional and physical healing.

Through this experience, I’ve learned that there is hope in hurt. Art gave me an open-ended invitation to express what I couldn’t always put into words. I felt safe, seen, and supported in a way that reminded me I am not alone.

Participating in this program was deeply meaningful, and I would love to attend again. I’ve already recommended it to others because I believe in the healing power of creativity and connection. This experience transformed something once painful into something deeply beautiful—and for that, I am truly grateful."
