"My scars are physical—each one telling a story of survival and strength. I’ve had one colon resection surgery, two liver resection surgeries, a C-section, a failed laparoscopic attempt, and port placement and removal. Each procedure left a mark on my body, but also shaped the person I’ve become. In my ScART piece, I chose colors that reflected the emotional journey behind the physical healing. Green symbolizes peace and calm—something I’ve had to fight to reclaim. Blue represents renewal and hope, reminding me that every surgery was a step toward recovery. Yellow stands for the light I now see at the end of a long, dark tunnel. These colors brought life to the emotions I often keep hidden.The ScART experience gave me the opportunity to express feelings I didn’t even realize I had been carrying. Putting them into my artwork was incredibly healing. It reminded me that while scars may fade, the strength we gain from them remains.I’m grateful for this experience. It offered not just creative expression, but connection—with others, and with myself. In sharing our stories, we find power, understanding, and peace."
