"My scars are both emotional and physical. Emotionally, I struggled with the mental toll of always being the strong one in my family—hiding my pain and carrying the weight silently. Physically, the changes to my body were frightening. While I’m grateful for life, the scars still hurt, and the loss of a part of me is sometimes heartbreaking. My scars come from a double mastectomy, DIEP flap reconstruction, nipple-sparing surgery, and port catheter insertion. Each one tells a story of survival—but also of pain, grief, and transformation. What I took from ScART is that I’m not alone. I have an entire sisterhood of women who understand the same struggles, thoughts, and fears. They know what it’s like to stand in front of a mirror and barely recognize yourself—yet still choose to keep going. Being allowed to share this journey in a safe, loving space was a blessing. There is a God who knows us individually and walks with us through it all. That truth, and this community, mean everything."
