"My scars are from a bilateral mastectomy with D-flap reconstruction—a journey that forever changed me. I chose pink to represent femininity, because for the first time in a long time, I’m starting to love what I see in the mirror again. Green stands for renewal, as I feel myself growing into a new version of who I am. Blue reflects the sadness that still lingers. There are days I miss the old me—the one before cancer. And yellow symbolizes the joy I now feel and the hope I carry for the future. I’m beginning to believe that not only will I heal physically, but my internal wounds will also find peace. This experience has taught me that time really does help heal. Just one year ago, I was in a very dark place. I felt broken, emotionally and physically. But today, I can say I’m better—stronger, even. That transformation didn’t happen alone. Having my caregivers with me during this process brought me comfort beyond words. The love and encouragement they offered was healing in itself. And witnessing my family be moved by this journey—seeing them grow through it too—was unexpectedly beautiful. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in the presence of love.This experience has reminded me that even in the aftermath of pain, there is growth, connection, and unexpected joy."
