My scars are both emotional and physical. They tell a story. I got these scars throughout my treatments - from my two central lines, many lumbar punctures, biopsies, gallbladder removal and hip surgeries. I painted my scars just as they are on my body. I chose these colors because they represent a light in the darkness. Everything I went though was so difficult at that time, but everything I have been through has made me who I am today and I am proud of that. The dark colors symbolize the beginning of my journey - fear of the unknown and the lighter colors describe the hope I had. I used the gold on my scars to make them stand out and to show that I am proud of my scars. I used to be embarrassed and ashamed of my scars, but now I am proud to have them. They tell my story of what I went through, how far I have come, and everything I have achieved in life. When people ask me now how I got them, I proudly share my story and my testimony. Scart has allowed me to express my emotions and proudly display this picture of my scars.
