"My scars tell a story—of Crohn’s disease, a double mastectomy, a chemo port, and a broken heart. Each one marks a chapter of pain, healing, and strength.

I chose gold to represent victory. I’ve overcome so many obstacles in life, and despite everything, I choose to stand victorious. Pink symbolizes breast cancer and femininity. I’m grateful for a one-and-done surgery that allowed me to preserve a sense of self. Lord willing, I’ll never need another breast surgery. Green and brown signify the battle I’ve fought—earthy, grounded, and ready for war. And purple rains down over my painting, representing the peace and faith that cover me, no matter what life brings.

These scars were once symbols of fear and loss, but through this experience, I’ve come to see them as reminders of love, peace, and survival. It was unexpectedly therapeutic to study them closely, speak life over them, and thank them for saving me. I am still here, with breath in my lungs and purpose in my heart. This life is mine to live—and I plan to live it fully. These battle wounds are now my badge of honor, and I wear them with pride."
